Fire Statement

Since August Together Housing Group  have been proactively working to address the issues that have arisen following the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

In September Together Housing began a programme of removal of the ACM cladding from all three blocks in Mixenden, Halifax.  The programme also included the removal of the insulation.  This work is now complete. We are working with the local Planning Authority, our independent fire consultants  and Fire Rescue Service with regards to identifying a suitable replacement system.  Subject to a suitable system being approved we anticipate that a programme of replacement will start in the New Year. Final dates, once confirmed will be announced to residents.

In addition to our independent fire safety review (being carried out by Trident Building Consultants) we have also completed joint safety review with Calderdale Council and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.  The report, which was published and approved by the Council’s cabinet in November, made reference to West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services confidence in Together Housing’s approach following our work to date.

We have set up a strategic fire safety committee, with representation from right across the group, to continually review and scrutinise fire safety on an ongoing basis.  Membership of the group also includes representation from both  Trident and West Yorkshire FRS. We have ensured that all of our Fire Risk Assessments are up to date and will continue to closely monitor this.

In addition to our work on our three blocks in Mixenden, we are also carrying out a fully review of our remaining 18 high rise blocks in Calderdale, Sheffield, Bridlington and Blackburn.  This will include undertaking a level 4 intrusive survey.
