Chair of The Operations Committee
Steve is Chief Executive of Ongo, a regional housing and community investment group based in Scunthorpe. He has worked in housing for over 30 years in both local authorities and housing associations. He has experience in most areas of housing operations and over the years his roles have included estate management, debt recovery, repairs and a variety of management positions.
Steve led the consultation work that resulted in the tenants of North Lincolnshire Council voting to establish a housing association and the formation of what is now Ongo Homes and has made tenant involvement a priority in his work. He believes passionately that tenants should have meaningful roles in decision making within their landlord organisations and has devolved decision making powers to Ongo’s tenant organisation.
Steve is an authentic and passionate leader who believes that success comes from working with engaged and positive people. He uses the combined strengths of the different companies in the Ongo Group to provide quality homes, deliver great landlord services and create opportunities to inspire people to reach their potential. Steve is a committee member at Together Housing and is a Trustee of North Lincolnshire Citizens Advice.
Paul joined the Civil Service where he worked for 13 years in London for Customs and Excise, Treasury and Cabinet Office. In 1986 he joined the Manpower Services Commission in Sheffield and subsequently worked there and in Birmingham for the Departments of Employment and Education.
In 1997 Paul left the Civil Service and joined the third sector where he became Deputy Chief Executive of the Manchester Enterprises group, a not-for-profit group of companies dedicated to the economic development of Greater Manchester.
In 2006 Paul retired to become a consultant and to enjoy more time for leisure and voluntary activities. Paul is a trustee of Sheffield Jazz.
Jackie worked for a number of years as a senior regional personnel manager within the retail sector. Following this she joined Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council as The Access Point Network Manager. Her role here was to manage the five Access Points across Blackburn and Darwen as well as 4 outreach projects.
The Access Points and the outreach projects were to work with members of the community to assist them back into work, training and further education. This brought her into contact with residents from all corners of the Borough and gave her a good understanding of the barriers that faced some of the residents on a day to day basis.
She also volunteers as a custody visitor for the Police Commission. This requires visiting cells in the police stations in Blackburn and Burnley unannounced to check on the welfare of detainees. Jackie is also involved in her own area as the chair of the local residents association. Jackie was previously a member of the Twin Valley Homes Board.
Darren has a broad range of strategic, operational and commercial experience, specialising in Information Management and Technology. He is a Partnership Director for Agilisys, one of the country’s fastest growing IT Services companies. Darren has held a number of senior leadership roles, and spent several years responsible for two significant local government outsource contracts, totalling £240m.
More recently Darren was instrumental in securing a new £47m shared services contract with Bolton MBC, Wigan MBC, Wigan and Leigh Housing and Wigan Leisure Cultural Trust.
He has also spent several years working in housing, first with Places for People Group, during a period of rapid growth, and then for Wakefield and District Housing from stock transfer to their ‘three star’ audit rating in 2007. Darren has worked as an independent consultant to a number of blue chip companies, advising on IT strategy, service delivery, security and business process reengineering.
Ian is responsible for group strategy, policy and research, communications, marketing, income, customer services, neighbourhood management, extra care and supported housing.
Michelle has responsibility for financial accounting, management accounting, business improvement, Value for Money (VfM) and taxation across the Group.
George is responsible for stock condition, delivery of maintenance services, investment planning, facilities management, sustainability, partnering and contract procurement.
Rob is educated to MSc Level and his background is in local government with specific emphasis on social housing and strategic partnerships. He spent 15 years in various roles with Oldham MBC and Twin Valley Homes in Blackburn. These included management, large scale capital improvements, performance monitoring and the development of choice based letting schemes. He lead and developed the highly successful ‘Oldham Instant Homes’ initiative and the ‘B-with-us’ choice based lettings scheme which is still going strong in Pennine Lancashire after nearly 15 years.
He worked for a couple of years in the private sector as a Business Development Manager in a fast growing SME and has spent the last 10 years in various roles at Pendle and Hyndburn Councils.
He is now Programme and Projects Co-ordinator at Burnley Borough Council. Rob was previously a Board Member of Green Vale Homes.
